Lead Mechanical & Electrical  Engineer
Location: High End residential - Westminster, London
Landlord side only.


Overview:
We are currently recruiting for a Lead M&E Engineer for a prestigious high-end residential development,  located in the heart of Westminster near the Houses of Parliament. This flagship site, comprising of over 200 luxury apartments.
This is a standalone, site-based position with additional labour support provided during peak operational periods.
This opportunity is ideal for a multi-skilled engineer who thrives in a client-facing environment, can confidently manage subcontractors, and is looking for long-term career progression within a supportive and growing company.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the lead on-site M&E engineer, responsible for all landlord and life safety systems including:
    • Fire alarms
    • Sprinkler systems
    • CCTV and access control
    • Fan coil units (FCUs)
    • Heat interface units (HIUs)
  • Conduct routine plant checks and light testing within apartments.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for cooling system issues—diagnose minor faults or escalate to external contractors as needed.
  • Manage and coordinate with up to 20 subcontractors on site, ensuring timely and quality completion of works.
  • Perform monthly emergency lighting tests, with labour assistance provided as needed.
  • Maintain and update issue-tracking spreadsheets and other maintenance documentation.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly site and client meetings, providing technical insight where required.
  • Liaise directly with tenants, the building manager, and representatives, ensuring all communications are professional and well-documented.


Candidate Profile:
Essential:
  • Multi-skilled engineer with a solid foundation in both mechanical and electrical disciplines (full dual qualification not required).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident and professional in client-facing scenarios.
  • Strong basic IT skills, especially in email correspondence and Excel.
Desirable:
  • Experience within high-end residential developments.
  • Background managing subcontractors and working independently on site.
  • Experience with HIU/FCU servicing and BMS monitoring.


Salary & Benefits:
  • £45,000 - £47,000, depending on experience.
  • 23 days holiday, increasing to 24 days after two years and 25 days after three years, plus bank holidays.
