Assistant Facilities Manager – HMP Long Lartin
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Facilities Manager to join the team at HMP Long Lartin.
Working hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
There will be occasional requirements for weekend overtime and on-call cover, offered on an ad-hoc basis—providing flexibility and the opportunity to earn additional pay while supporting essential services.
This role supports His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) in maintaining safe, clean, and efficient prison environments. The Assistant Facilities Manager plays a key role in supporting the Facilities Manager and leading teams to deliver high standards of service, compliance, and safety—making a real difference every day.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Facilities Manager in delivering and strategically managing a range of facilities services, ensuring all contractual, legislative, and operational requirements are met.
  • Supervise Team Leaders and their teams, ensuring effective service delivery, compliance, and high performance within a secure environment.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop teams to achieve contract KPIs and service level agreements, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
  • Build strong working relationships with on-site customers, prison staff, and supply chain partners, ensuring customer needs are met and satisfaction remains high.
What You Will Bring
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and resilient approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
  • Recognised and relevant technical or FM qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely) – essential.
  • Experience in Facilities Management, ideally within a secure or complex environment, including first-line management and supply chain management.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and requirements.
