Permanent Plumber – Ministry of Justice (MoJ) Account, HMP/YOI Foston Hall
(On-site role)
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Plumber to join the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account, working on-site at HMP/YOI Foston Hall.
There may be a requirement to work some weekends on a rota basis. Weekend shifts receive an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.
This role supports His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by ensuring facilities are safe, clean, and fully operational. Using your plumbing and maintenance expertise, you’ll help maintain the smooth running of secure premises.
The Plumber plays a vital role in carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant regulations.
Working hours: 39 hours per week (across 7 days where a weekend shift pattern applies).
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine and non-routine maintenance work.
  • Diagnose faults and identify life-expired equipment.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace faulty or worn components.
  • Perform water sampling, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Undertake mains water supply repairs.
  • Minimise wastage and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Ensure all statutory and compliance works are completed within deadlines.
  • Work safely at height and in all weather conditions when required.
  • Maintain high health and safety standards across all activities.
What Makes This Role Unique You’ll be responsible for ensuring all works are completed to the highest safety standards and in accordance with agreed method statements.
Prison Security Clearance will be required (full support will be provided during this process).
What We’re Looking For
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Appropriate trade qualification (Level 3)
  • Experience operating light plant and equipment
  • Ideally NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating, with relevant maintenance experience (applications with NVQ Level 2 will also be considered)
Desirable
  • Legionella Control (L8) certification
  • Experience working in a commercial or facilities management environment
Training and development will be provided to help you get up to speed if required.
