Advanced Practioner
Location: South Yorkshire
Pay rate: £37 per hour
We are recruiting for an Special Educational Needs Coordinator based in the South East. In this role you will play a crucial role in supporting settings to effectively meet the needs of children with additional needs. This is a non case holding role.
You will make sure parents receive the information, advice and support that they need in order to participate in the SEN decision-making process. You will ensure parents are closely involved throughout and that their insights inform action taken.
The successful candidate must have experience of improving practice to support children with SEND in an early years provision. Recent experience as an SENCO is desirable. This role has been created in order to cover Maternity leave and requires an immediate start. The success candidate must have a full UK driving Licence with business insurance.

1 Qualifications/Professional membership
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) or relevant experience within early years or a related children’s services field.
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Recent experience as a SENCO
- Knowledge of a range of strategies and interventions used to support young children with special educational needs
- Experience supporting practitioners to be upskilled to deliver the best outcomes for children with additional needs
- Knowledge of legislation and legal requirements to be fulfilled in relation to Special EducationalNeeds
- Knowledge of the statutory requirements for Children with Special EducationalNeeds
- Knowledge of the national agenda for SEND
In this role you will
- Deliver effective advice and guidance support to a range settings, upskilling and empowering practitioners to meet the needs of all children through inclusive learning environments and practices
- Provide targeted support in a range of settings to develop and improve inclusive provision and practice, promoting best outcomes for children
- Support the design and delivery bespoke training packages tailored to meet the needs of settings across the locality, collaborating with a range of multi-agency professionals
- Create and build stronger links between settings and services within the Local Authority and wider community such as health services, social care and charitable organisations supporting children with Special EducationalNeeds
- Represent the service in a range of forums and panels to advocate for settings and children, sharing intelligence where appropriate Directorate –Service 03
- Support, under the direction from the Team Leader, area based initiatives to accelerate the progress of children with special educational needs
- Support, under the direction of the Team Leader, planning for future provision and projects to raise the attainment of young children with special educational needs
- Investigate and challenge concerns of inequity/discrimination in a professional and supportive manner with a focus on restorative practice
- Fulfil responsibility to keep children safe, sharing information with appropriate agencies and taking timely action in line with local and national policy
- Comply with all requirements of the County Council policy and procedure, promoting equal opportunities at all times
