Are you passionate about horticulture and transforming outdoor spaces? Network Recruitment Wales is seeking three skilled Gardeners to join a dedicated team in Newport for a temporary 13-week assignment starting 30 June 2025, delivering high-quality grounds maintenance across the city.
What You’ll Do:

• Carry out a wide range of horticultural tasks to the highest standards, including grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and clearing leaves and litter.
• Plant and maintain bedding plants, trees, shrubs, and shrub beds (pruning, division, etc.).
• Perform soft landscaping tasks such as top-soiling, cultivation, seeding, and shrub-bed renewal.
• Apply chemicals safely and maintain sports facilities (setting out and marking).
• Operate and maintain vehicles, plant, and machinery, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Road Traffic Regulations.
• Report equipment defects and prioritise safety for yourself and others.

What We’re Looking For:

• Essential: NVQ Stage 1 in Horticulture (or equivalent) OR two years’ proven practical experience in grounds maintenance.
• Essential: Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Desirable: Spraying certificate and experience with soft landscaping or mowing equipment.
• Knowledge of plant identification, disorders, and mechanical plant/equipment maintenance (or willingness to train).
• Strong practical horticultural skills, including use of pedestrian mowers, strimmers, and small plant.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
• Physical stamina to work outdoors in all weather conditions, with flexibility to work across Newport and undertake overtime if needed.
• A positive, team-oriented attitude with a commitment to improving the gardening team’s standards.
