Job Description

Psychology Graduate Learning Mentor – Wednesbury Secondary School

Are you a psychology graduate keen to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting? This role offers hands-on SEN experience and is perfect if you're considering a future in education or mental health.

*** Psychology Graduate Learning Mentor
*** September 2025 – July 2026
*** £85 - £100 per day
*** Secondary School location: Wednesbury
*** 1:1 support for a student with ADHD

The Role
You’ll support a student with ADHD on a one-to-one basis across the school day, helping them stay focused, manage transitions, and succeed in a busy classroom environment. You’ll adapt tasks, give regular check-ins and build a relationship based on consistency and trust.

This is not a typical teaching assistant role – it’s tailored, personal and vital. You’ll help this young person access learning and grow in confidence throughout the year.

The Candidate
You’ve got a psychology (or related) degree and a genuine interest in neurodiversity and learning needs. You might have experience in mentoring, youth work or tutoring, and you’re comfortable working 1:1.

Patience, consistency and emotional intelligence are key. You’ll need to build trust, set boundaries, and support learning in a calm, professional way.

The School
This Wednesbury secondary school has a strong pastoral team and a supportive approach to SEND. They value mentoring and personalised interventions, and you'll have plenty of guidance from the SENCo and teaching staff.

Start building your SEN experience now – this is a great first step into the sector.
