Job Description

Maths Academic Coach

Are you a maths graduate looking to gain school-based experience before starting teacher training?

*** Maths Academic Coach
*** September 2025 – July 2026
*** £90 - £110 per day
*** State-of-the-Art secondary school, Birmingham
*** 1:1 and small group support across the KS4 maths curriculum

The Role:
The appointed Maths Academic Coach will work closely with the school’s maths department, supporting Year 10 and Year 11 students as they prepare for their GCSE exams. You’ll deliver targeted 1:1 and small group sessions focused on building confidence and understanding in key areas such as algebra, geometry, and statistics. You’ll also help create revision resources, run practice exam sessions, and support students who need extra help to reach their target grades.

The Candidate:
We’re looking for a graduate with a degree in maths or a related subject like engineering or economics. You’ll need a strong academic background, clear communication skills, and a genuine interest in working with young people. Experience supporting children—whether in schools, tutoring or mentoring—is a bonus but not essential. What matters most is that you’re reliable, calm under pressure, and motivated to make a difference.

The School:
This Birmingham secondary school offers excellent facilities and a strong reputation for academic progress. The maths department is well-supported, collaborative, and keen to welcome graduates interested in teacher training. You’ll be given guidance throughout your placement and encouraged to get fully involved in school life.

Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
