Job Description
Are you an inspiring and compassionate Primary SEND Teacher looking for a new opportunity to make a difference? A welcoming and supportive special school in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Primary SEND Teacher to join their team. This school provides a nurturing and therapeutic learning environment for children with Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and additional complex needs.
As a Primary SEND Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating engaging, individualised learning experiences that help each child achieve their full potential. You’ll work closely with a dedicated team of teaching assistants, therapists, and senior leaders who are committed to providing outstanding education and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils’ individual needs and EHCPs.
- Foster a calm, inclusive, and positive classroom atmosphere where every child feels safe and valued.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and parents to support academic and emotional development.
- Track and monitor pupil progress, providing detailed feedback and celebrating every achievement.
- Support the development of communication, social, and life skills through structured routines and sensory learning.
- Contribute to the wider school community by promoting wellbeing, inclusion, and teamwork.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching pupils with SEND, ideally within a special school or alternative provision.
- Knowledge of Autism, MLD, and communication strategies such as PECS or Makaton (desirable).
- A patient, empathetic approach and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
