Job Description
This SEMH school in Tamworth is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant who can make a positive impact on the lives of young people. As a Teaching Assistant in this setting, you will be supporting children who have faced barriers to learning, helping them to re-engage with education and build positive relationships. The school has a calm, nurturing approach and is looking for a Teaching Assistant who can bring patience, resilience, and genuine care to the role.
The successful Teaching Assistant will be working with students on a 1-2-1 and small-group basis, supporting emotional regulation, classroom engagement, and personal development. Being a Teaching Assistant in this environment means being adaptable, confident with behaviour support, and able to remain calm under pressure. You will join a supportive team of Teaching Assistants, Mentors and Teachers who work together to help each pupil thrive.
Job Role:
- Provide 1-2-1 support for pupils with SEMH needs as a Teaching Assistant.
- Work as a Teaching Assistant to help pupils engage positively in lessons.
- Support teachers with classroom routines and lesson delivery.
- Assist with emotional regulation strategies and behaviour support.
- Work collaboratively with other Teaching Assistants and teaching staff.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage progress.
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, or similar.
- Confidence managing challenging behaviours in a supportive way.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A patient, compassionate and resilient approach.
- A genuine interest in supporting young people to succeed.
