Maths Teacher – SEMH School – South Birmingham
Are you a passionate Maths Teacher who believes in the power of education to transform lives? This welcoming and nurturing SEMH school in South Birmingham is looking for a dedicated Maths Teacher to join their exceptional team, teaching small classes of students who need patience, creativity, and encouragement to reach their potential.

As a Maths Teacher in this setting, you will be teaching classes of no more than eight students, supported by an outstanding pastoral team and experienced teaching assistants. The school provides a calm, structured, and caring environment designed to help students with SEMH needs and anxiety re-engage with learning. You’ll have the time, space, and resources to focus on what really matters—helping every learner make progress and rediscover their confidence in Maths.

Job Role:
• Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons tailored to small groups of students with SEMH needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage confidence and resilience in learners.
• Work collaboratively with the pastoral and leadership teams to support emotional wellbeing and academic progress.
• Create a calm, structured learning environment that promotes independence and achievement.
• Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, celebrating progress at every stage.
• Contribute to the wider school community and share best practices with colleagues.

Requirements:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching Maths at Key Stage 3 and/or 4.
• Experience working with students who have SEMH needs or anxiety (desirable but not essential).
• A compassionate and flexible teaching style that prioritises relationships and progress.
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• A commitment to creating positive learning experiences for all students.
