Job Description
This welcoming special school in Birmingham is looking for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team and support children with Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). This role involves providing both 1-2-1 and whole class support for pupils in Key Stage 3, helping them to access learning and reach their potential.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of needs, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and engaged in the classroom. Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team, you will implement tailored strategies to promote learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing 1-2-1 support for pupils with Autism and MLD.
- Supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 3 classes.
- Assisting with the planning and delivery of engaging lessons.
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
- Working alongside teachers and SEN staff to implement support strategies.
- Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs, particularly Autism and MLD.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to support both academic and social development.
- A genuine passion for working with young people with SEND.
