Occupational Therapist – Reablement Team
Location: Southampton
Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate: £26.63 per hour
Working Pattern: Hybrid
Contract: Short-term cover

Role Overview Southampton City Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Occupational Therapist to provide short-term cover within the Reablement Team. This role is integral to supporting adults with care and support needs to maintain independence, improve wellbeing, and live safely within the community.
You will deliver high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy interventions, working collaboratively with service users, carers, and multi-disciplinary partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out occupational therapy assessments, care planning, and reviews to promote independence and daily living skills
  • Support individuals and carers through advice, education, and practical interventions to overcome disability
  • Recommend, arrange, and review standard and specialist equipment and advise on home adaptations
  • Work closely with health, social care, and partner agencies to ensure coordinated, multi-disciplinary support
  • Supervise and support Occupational Therapy Assistants and students where required
  • Maintain accurate, timely records in line with statutory requirements, professional standards, and Council policies
  • Actively promote safeguarding of adults and uphold Southampton City Council’s Equality Policy
Essential Requirements
  • Diploma or BSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent, WFOT recognised)
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Experience working in a community health or social care setting
  • Ability to manage a complex and unpredictable caseload, prioritising effectively
  • Strong assessment, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel across Southampton
