Location: Wolverhampton, UK
Rate: £600 per day
Contract Type: Temporary / Locum
Working Arrangement: Face-to-Face Visits
Contract Length: Ongoing – guaranteed work until at least October 2026
Workload: Guaranteed monthly EHCNAs
Driving: Essential (Full UK Driving Licence Required)

Wolverhampton City Council is seeking an experienced and HCPC-registered Educational Psychologist to join their service on a locum basis. This is a long-term assignment offering stability, guaranteed work each month, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children and young people across the city.

The successful candidate will undertake statutory assessments, deliver high-quality psychological advice for EHCP processes, and work closely with schools, families, and multi-agency partners to support positive educational outcomes.

Role Overview
  • Deliver statutory psychological assessments (including EHCNAs) in line with SEND legislation.
  • Provide clear, evidence-based written advice for Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments.
  • Visit schools and settings across Wolverhampton to complete face-to-face assessments (driving required).
  • Work collaboratively with families, SENCOs, teachers, and partner professionals.
  • Promote inclusive practice and support improved outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
  • Maintain high-quality case records and meet statutory deadlines.
  • Manage your caseload independently while meeting service priorities.
Requirements
  • HCPC registration as an Educational Psychologist.
  • Significant experience working within a local authority or similar educational psychology setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation, statutory assessments, and best practice guidance.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and professional report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied caseload efficiently.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (travel across Wolverhampton is essential).
