Job Description

We are currently recruiting a Soft Services Facilities Manager to join our Commercial team. The purpose of this role is to lead and manage the Facilities Management services, having operational oversight, day-to-day management of buildings and facilities, ensuring they are safe, functional and compliant.

What you will be doing as a Soft Services Facilities Manager
  • Facilities Manager - To oversee and manage all day-to-day facilities operations on site, including audits, reactive and planned maintenance through FM service providers.
  • Supply Chain Management - Monitor contract performance, attend monthly contract performance reviews, initiate renewals, extensions and terminations, maintain accurate records of contractual documents and correspondence. Resolve disputes and manage risks.
  • Internal Stakeholder Management - Own and manage monthly internal stakeholder meetings and user groups pertaining to Facilities Management services.
  • External Stakeholder Management - Own and manage external stakeholders through supply chain management.
  • Change Management - Take a lead role in the transition and change of facilities management services.
  • Leadership - Lead, manage and support FM team, both internal and external.
  • Budget Management - Prepare and manage budgets for associated cost centre Reporting monthly through P&L management any variations.
  • Health and Safety - Working with H&S colleagues to ensure compliance with H&S and environmental regulations, develop and implement emergency response plans.

Location – Your base location will be Clearwater Court, Reading, on a Hybrid basis.

Working Hours – Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.

What you should bring to the role

Essential Skills:
  • Proven experience in facilities or estates management.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of health & safety legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing contractors and service contracts.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable Skills:
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Comfortable stepping into leadership when required.
  • Knowledge of health & safety legislation and statutory compliance.
  • Experience supporting audits and inspections.
  • Risk assessment and mitigation planning.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate staff.
  • Experience in delegating tasks and managing performance.
  • Conflict resolution and team-building skills.

  • Offering between £47,000 to £53,000 per annum, depending on experience and skills.
  • 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service. (plus bank holidays)
