Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with an established and respected practice based in High Wycombe, who have an urgent requirement for an experienced Practice Manager or Senior Accountant. This is a key position within the business, and due to current demand, the ideal candidate will be able to start immediately or with a short notice period.

This opportunity is fully office-based and offers the chance to take ownership of a substantial client portfolio while supporting and managing a growing team.

Key responsibilities of the Practice Manager or Senior Accountant:

Client Portfolio Management
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of 150+ clients across multiple industries, with balance sheets of up to £20m.
  • Conduct regular face-to-face and virtual meetings with clients to discuss queries, annual financial statements, and overall company performance.
Technical & Financial Work
  • Review FRS 105, FRS 102 Section 1A, and charity financial statements.
  • Prepare management accounts required by external stakeholders.
  • Support the onboarding of new clients, ensuring seamless allocation of work to staff.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Manage and mentor associate team members, conducting quarterly reviews, training sessions, and workload management.
  • Assist in the recruitment process, including interviewing potential candidates.
  • Brief the team on key regulatory updates and relevant industry topics that can also be used for the company’s social media channels.
Operational & Process Improvement
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental processes, actively seeking opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee billing and debtor management for both your own portfolio and the wider department, identifying areas for improvement.
Business Development & Representation
  • Attend networking events as a company representative.
  • Follow up with prospective clients, conduct initial consultations, and prepare fee proposals.

To be considered for this Practice Manager or Senior Accountant position, you will have:
  • Experience as a Practice Manager or Senior Accountant within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong leadership and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to hit the ground running and support the team during a busy period.
  • Must be available immediately or on a short notice period.
  • Comfortable working full-time from the office.
