About the Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer with at least 3 years’ UK experience to join our growing team in the Cardiff area. You’ll be part of a collaborative, friendly practice delivering innovative and sustainable M&E design solutions for projects across the commercial, industrial, government, and healthcare sectors.
With a strong reputation for quality and reliability, we work on high-profile projects nationwide alongside leading architects, designers, and contractors, with a focus on low-carbon and sustainable design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver mechanical building services design solutions, ensuring compliance with current legislation and engineering standards.
  • Carry out detailed calculations, analysis, and design reviews.
  • Prepare and review mechanical design drawings and related technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with BIM teams to ensure design packages meet required quality and deadlines.
  • Support project managers throughout design, installation, commissioning, and testing stages.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors, maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality management policies.
  • Work across multiple projects simultaneously, managing priorities and deadlines.

About You

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree in Mechanical/Building Services Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • Demonstrable experience in detailed building services design.
  • Working towards or already holding a CIBSE-accredited qualification (e.g. BEng/BSc).
  • Experience in both design office and site/construction environments.
  • Proficient in Revit and other industry-standard engineering software.
Essential Skills:
  • Ability to create and modify mechanical documentation, drawings, and schematics.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with a collaborative approach.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to take responsibility for project outcomes.
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
